A man, 24, is dead after a crash on Coffee Road in Brownsville. Police have charged the other driver. She is a woman, 26. The charge is intoxication manslaughter.

Brownsville police say it happened Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 9:10 p.m. Officers went to the 2300 block of Coffee Road. They found a big crash. A white Chevrolet Suburban and a gray Hyundai Elantra were in it.

Police named the Elantra driver as Daniel A. Morin, 24. He was in critical condition. He went to a hospital. He died there, police say.

Dania Martinez, 26, drove the Suburban, police say. They say she showed signs of intoxication.

In a Facebook post, police shared what they know so far. They say the Suburban was heading west on Coffee Road. The Elantra was pulling out of a private driveway, heading east. Then the two cars hit. Police call this early information.

Police say all four people in the two cars went to a hospital. Two of them are Morin and Martinez. Police have not said how the other two are.

Martinez faces two charges. One is intoxication manslaughter with a motor vehicle. Police call it a second-degree felony. That can mean 2 to 20 years in prison. The other is intoxication assault with a motor vehicle. It involves serious bodily injury. Police call it a third-degree felony. That can mean 2 to 10 years.

Martinez went before a judge on Wednesday morning, Oct. 14. Her bond was set at $55,000.

Police say the investigation is still going. They have not said what led to the crash. More facts may come out soon.

Everyone is presumed innocent until proved otherwise.
