One man is under arrest. He faces 12 charges after a short, wild crime spree in Laredo. Police say it all happened in minutes on Sunday, September 13, 2026. It happened on Corpus Christi Street.
Police say the trouble started at a house on the street. A man broke in. He is accused of hitting a woman with a bat inside. She got hurt. She got care for minor injuries.
The man did not stop there. Police say he walked up to a car parked close by. A woman sat in the driver's seat. Police say he pulled her out. He threw her to the ground. Then he drove off in her car.
Officers rushed to help both women. At the same time, neighbors called in more trouble. They said someone broke into their trucks on the same block. Police say the man hit two more trucks.
Officers found the stolen car a few streets away. It was near South Ejido Avenue. Police say the driver crashed into a parked truck there. He then fought two cops. They tackled him to the ground.
Police named the man as Luis Castillo, 31. He now faces 12 charges, including aggravated assault and robbery.
Aggravated assault is a serious charge. Police use it when they say someone hurt a person with a weapon. Robbery means police say the man took something by force or by a threat.
One neighbor, Jacinta Bernal, said the attacks hit close to home.
"It leaves you feeling uneasy, especially because I live alone. Nothing like this has ever happened around here before. It was right across the street where that elderly woman lives," Bernal said.
Everyone is presumed innocent until proved otherwise.
