A Weslaco family got out of their burning home with nothing but their lives. Now they are asking the community to help them start over.
📍 WHAT HAPPENED
The Palomo family was asleep when the fire broke out late on a Wednesday night. It started inside one of the bedrooms.
A single father, his three children, and their grandmother were all inside the house when the fire started.
They got out. No one was hurt.
The Weslaco Fire Marshal's office responded and put out the fire. But by the time the flames were out, smoke had spread through most of the house. The damage was so severe that the home is now too unsafe to live in.
🔍 WHAT THE FAMILY IS FACING
The Palomo family has no insurance to cover the cost of repairs. They are currently staying with relatives while they figure out their next steps.
Smoke damage got into the walls, the furniture, and the family's belongings. Structural damage made the house unlivable. Repairs will take time and money the family does not have.
