A grand jury in Grayson County has charged a San Antonio man with murder.

Kevin Emmanuel Kraemer, 35, was indicted this month. An indictment is not a guilty verdict. It just means a grand jury saw enough proof for a trial. Kraemer is accused. He is not convicted.

The grand jury handed up three charges. Murder. Tampering with a human corpse. And having a gun as a felon. In Texas a felon is not allowed to carry a gun.

The case goes back to June 10. Someone called in a shooting on Antioch Road near Bells. Bells is a small town in North Texas.

Officers from the Bells Police Department went to the call. Grayson County deputies worked two scenes close by. They found Edward Cruz Trevino, 34, of San Antonio. He was dead.

A man who lives in Bells found the body. It was on the shoulder of the road. He told KXII he saw blood right away. He said it looked like Trevino was shot in the head.

Deputies found Kraemer on foot near the Bells post office. He did not fight them. They took him to jail.

"Based on evidence collected at the scene and information obtained from witnesses, Kraemer was arrested and charged with Murder," the sheriff's office said the day it happened. "He is currently being held in the Grayson County Jail."

Capt. Jeremy Cox speaks for the sheriff's office. He said his deputies moved fast.

"From the time that we got notified until both scenes were secured with Kraemer detained, was just a matter of minutes," Cox said.

The Texas Rangers helped work the case. As of last Thursday, no bond was set on the murder charge. So Kraemer stays in jail.

Both men came from San Antonio. Neither one was from Bells. No one has said why they were out there that day.

A man who lives nearby told KXII the town is not used to this. "Nothing happens around here," he said. "It's a real quiet neighborhood, quiet town."

The murder case was not the only one. The grand jury charged more than 50 other people in August. Everyone on that list is accused, not guilty.

Most of the cases are drug cases. Meth shows up again and again. A few people are charged with bringing drugs into the county jail.

Some of the other charges are much bigger.

Jeremiah Dewaylon Smith, 21, of Van Alstyne, is charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child. That is the most serious charge on the list after the murder case.

Three people are charged in a robbery case. Each one faces a count of aggravated robbery. Each one is also charged with running a crime group. They are Brandon Scott Lilley, 31, of Denison. Hailey Ann Nicole Phelps, 33, of Mesquite. And Anthony Christopher Martin, 39, of Sherman.

Joshua James Werner, 45, of Cedar Park, is charged with theft. He is also charged with taking money from an old person. The charge says $2,500 to $30,000.

Michael Wayne Henry Jr., 55, of Whitesboro, is charged with failing to sign up on the sex offender list. He has to sign up each year for life.

Two people are charged with pulling a deadly weapon on someone. One is Czarina Jasmin Dandridge, 23, of Allyn, Washington. The other is Carol Marie Breault, 68, of Pottsboro.

Nicholas Dale Weir, 31, of Gordonville, is charged with leaving a child in danger.

Carlos Ivan Cavazos, 35, of Cameron, is charged with stealing between $30,000 and $150,000.

Christopher Allen Puckett, 38, of Kingston, Oklahoma, is charged with using stolen ID data. The count is 10 to 50 items.

Two more men are charged with hitting people at work. Nathan Alan Montgomery, 31, of Sherman, faces two counts of assault on hospital staff. Sterilen Jermone Dean, 39, of Whitesboro, faces two counts of assault on a guard.

Grayson County sits far from the Rio Grande Valley. But this case starts and ends with two San Antonio men. A trip north ended with a body on a country road.

Kraemer has no bond on that charge. His case now moves to a Grayson County court. No trial date is set.

A charge is not proof. Everyone is innocent until a court says otherwise.
