A 17-year-old boy from San Antonio is dead. Police say someone shot him. They call it a homicide.

The teen went missing on Monday, September 7. That night was Labor Day. His family last saw him around 8:30 p.m. He was near Marbach Road and Military Drive West. That is on the West Side.

Police looked for him for days. On Thursday, September 10, San Antonio police asked for help. The Texas Department of Public Safety sent out an AMBER Alert. The alert asked people to watch for the missing teen.

The search ended the next day. On Friday, September 11, someone found a body. It was in a grassy field. The field is near Wurzbach Parkway and Vista Del Norte. That is on the North Side. Police got the call around 7:50 p.m. The body was the missing teen.

Officers found shell casings near the body. A shell casing is the metal piece a gun leaves behind after it fires.

The medical examiner's office checked the body. They found he was shot more than once. They called his death a homicide. A homicide means one person killed another person.

The AMBER Alert was called off on Sunday, September 13. The teen had already been found by then.

The teen went to a San Antonio high school until last year. He was not in school when he went missing.

San Antonio police have not named a suspect. No one has been arrested. Police say the case is still open. Detectives want to know who shot the teen, and why.

El Tejano is not using the teen's name. He was a minor.

This is still an open homicide case. Police have not named or charged anyone. Anyone with information can call San Antonio police.
