A Bayview man is in jail. He is charged with murder in his wife's death.

Deputies got a 911 call on Sunday, September 6. The call came from a home on Siesta Lane in Bayview. It was the 29000 block. Bayview is a small town in Cameron County.

Deputies with the Cameron County Sheriff's Office went to the home. They found Dulce Vargas, 43. She was not awake. She had many injuries. Some of them were to her face.

Medics came to the home. They said she was dead at the scene.

The man who called 911 was her husband. His name is Aldo Vargas. He is 45.

Deputies said he told them the two had an argument. He said the fight then turned physical.

Deputies took him in and asked him questions. Later they named him as the suspect in her death.

The Sheriff's Office said it looked like he used a blunt object. That means something hard and heavy. Deputies said they do not know what the object was.

A judge came to the home that day. Justice of the Peace Juan Mendoza ordered an autopsy. An autopsy is a test to find out how a person died.

Deputies then arrested Aldo Vargas. They took him to the Carrizales-Rucker jail. There he was booked on a charge of murder.

In Texas, murder is a first-degree felony. That means 5 to 99 years or life in prison.

At first he had to wait to see a judge. A judge later set his bail at $100,000.

Jail records show he is still held on the murder charge.

The Sheriff's Office said the case is still open.

Everyone is presumed innocent until proved otherwise.
