Two people are dead. A suspect is in jail. Police chased him down Tuesday night after they found two bodies inside a home in Alton.
Alton police got a call about a fight at about 9:13 p.m. at the Tuscany Village area. When officers got to the house, they found two people dead inside. A third person was hurt and taken to the hospital.
The suspect was already gone.
Police gave chase. He crashed near 4 Mile Line Road and Glasscock Road. Officers took him in without a fight.
Alton Police Chief Mark Perez said the area is safe. "At this time, there is no threat to the public. The scene has been secured, cleared, and deemed safe," Perez said.
The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office is now running the case.
No names have been given out yet. The two people who died have not been named. The suspect has not been named either. No charges have been filed as of Tuesday night.
Police have not said how the two people died. They have not said what started the fight that led to the 911 call.
Alton is a small city in Hidalgo County, just north of McAllen in the Rio Grande Valley. Tuscany Village is a home area inside the city.
This is a double murder case. In Texas, if two people are killed at the same time on purpose, the suspect can face capital murder charges. That charge can mean life in prison or the death penalty.
Right now, the Sheriff's team is working to find out what happened inside that house. They are looking at who was there, how the people died, and why the suspect ran.
