🚨 A drug agent was watching a known spot in Garceno. He ended up making a felony arrest. It was all over a small metal box.
Special Agent Luis Rosales was working that area on August 6. This is according to a criminal complaint obtained by El Tejano. The spot is known for street level drug sales. He watched a white Volkswagen Atlas stop near a house on Garceno Road.
🚗 The Volkswagen drove off toward the west. At the corner with US 83, the driver did not use a turn signal.
📋 Rosales called Texas Trooper Juan Salinas. Salinas ran the car's plates. The registration had expired. Salinas stopped the car near Old Escobares Highway 83 and Rincon Road. He found the driver was Jesus Garcia Jr.
🤝 Garcia stepped out when asked. He let the trooper search, the complaint says. The search turned up a small round metal box. It was in Garcia's shorts pocket. Inside was a white substance that looked like small rocks.
🔬 Deputies believe the substance is crack cocaine. It weighed 0.42 grams. That is less than half a gram.
⚖️ That small amount is still enough for a felony in Texas. Garcia was arrested. He was taken to the Starr County jail. He was booked on Possession of a Controlled Substance. It is a state jail felony. It can mean six months to two years behind bars.
🔍 This arrest shows how police work these small, known drug spots. A missed turn signal and expired plates started it all. It ended with a man facing years in state jail. All for less than half a gram of crack cocaine.
El Tejano got this complaint through a Starr County public records request. His case is still pending in court. He has not been convicted of anything. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
