🚨 A dispute between two neighbors ended with one man in handcuffs. He is accused of threatening to kill the woman next door.

Starr County Deputy Christopher Garcia went to a home in Rio Grande City on August 8. It was about 1:51 in the afternoon. He was answering a harassment report. This is according to a criminal complaint obtained by El Tejano.

📋 The woman who called deputies said she had filed a report the day before, on August 7. She told the deputy that her neighbor, Eduardo Garcia, 45, had been blocking the road near her home.

😨 The complaint says a deputy left Eduardo's home after that August 7 report. Then Eduardo started yelling toward the woman's house. She said he shouted, in Spanish, "Voy a matarlos a todos." That means "I'm going to kill all of them." She told the deputy she knew his voice. She said it scared her.

📝 She said she wanted to press charges. She was worried Eduardo might get back at her if nothing was done. The deputy gave her a card with the case number. He told her she could ask for a copy of the report later.

🏠 The deputy then went to Eduardo's house. He told Eduardo to stay away from the woman and the other neighbors. Eduardo said he thought the neighbors had been on his land without asking. But he agreed to keep his distance, the complaint says.

⚖️ A judge signed a warrant for Eduardo's arrest on August 12. He was arrested that same day. He was booked into the Starr County Jail. He is charged with Terroristic Threat Causing Fear of Imminent Serious Bodily Injury. It is a Class B misdemeanor under Texas law. If convicted, he could face up to 180 days in county jail. He could also pay a fine up to 2,000 dollars.

🏘️ Fights between neighbors happen a lot. But Texas law draws a hard line once someone makes a real threat to kill another person. Once a person says they fear for their life and tells police, prosecutors can bring charges. They can do this even without any physical violence.

El Tejano got this complaint through a Starr County public records request. His case is still pending in court. He has not been convicted of anything. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
