A Brownsville man is going to state prison for 28 years. He killed a young man and hurt two others in a stabbing last summer.

Juan Ivan Jimenez, 32, stood before a judge on June 22, 2026. He said he was guilty of murder. The judge sentenced him to 28 years in state prison.

It took nearly one year to get here. The attack happened on July 2, 2025. Three people were stabbed that night. Only two survived.

The Stabbing

The attack was at the 2100 block of Florencia Avenue. That is in Cameron Park. Cameron Park is a community just outside Brownsville in Cameron County.

When deputies got there, they found Rolando Arturo Vizcarra, 26, near the front door of a home. He had been stabbed in the neck. He was already dead.

A 32-year-old woman, Amanda Krystal Fiveash, had been stabbed in the head and face. Her injuries were life-threatening. Deputies got her to a hospital fast.

A 34-year-old man had a stab wound to his shoulder. He was hurt but stayed at the scene. Medics treated him there.

The Cameron County Sheriff's Office said the attack was drug-related. That was in a news release put out after the stabbing.

The Arrest

Deputies got an arrest warrant on July 3, 2025. They caught Jimenez that same day.

Jimenez told deputies he did it. He confessed.

He was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at 500,000 dollars. In October 2025, a grand jury indicted him.

Jimenez sat in the Cameron County jail for months. His case moved slowly through the courts.

The Plea Deal

On June 22, 2026, Jimenez made a deal with prosecutors.

He pleaded guilty to murder. Murder was the first and most serious charge. In exchange, the second charge, aggravated assault, was dismissed.
