A 20-year-old man is now in jail. Houston Police say he shot and killed a man in a parking lot last year.
Police arrested Arentheis Winn in Galveston County. He faces a capital murder charge. That is the most serious murder charge in Texas. It can carry the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
Police say Winn shot 29-year-old Markquez Mack. A 30-year-old woman was also shot. She is expected to live.
The shooting happened on November 28, 2025. It was just before 5 a.m. Officers rushed to a parking lot on South Post Oak Road. That is near Highway 90 Alternate in southwest Houston.
Police say two men walked up to Mack and the woman. Words were exchanged. Then one of the men shot Mack. The two victims tried to leave. Police say the suspects kept shooting as they fled. That is when the woman got hit.
Mack died at the hospital. The woman is expected to recover from her injuries.
Houston Police first asked the public for help finding Winn back in April. They released video from the parking lot. It showed men in the area that night. Police called Winn a person of interest at that time. He had not been charged yet.
