A man caught in Brownsville just days after a brutal killing is now going to prison for the rest of his life.
Ryan James Lindsey, 33, was found guilty on September 18, 2026. The Baxter County Circuit Court in Arkansas heard five days of testimony before reaching the verdict.
Lindsey was convicted of Capital Murder. That is the most serious murder charge there is. It means the killing involved something extra, like a kidnapping or a fire, on top of the death itself.
He was also found guilty of Kidnapping, Second Degree Battery, and Arson. Second Degree Battery means he hurt someone badly on purpose. Arson means he set something on fire on purpose.
The judge sentenced Lindsey to life in prison without parole. That means he will never get out. The judge also added 15 more years and $12,500 in fines.
The case goes back to December 2020. That is when 35-year-old Cody Stradford was found dead inside his own car. The car was in a rural part of Baxter County. It had been burned.
Investigators say Stradford was beaten first, at a house in Mountain Home, Arkansas. His body was then moved to the car.
Three agencies worked the case together. The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division, the Baxter County Sheriff's Office, and the Mountain Home Police Department all took part.
Here is the South Texas connection. Just days after Stradford was killed, officers arrested Lindsey far from Arkansas. They caught him in Brownsville, Texas, right on the border. He was brought back to Baxter County to face the charges.
It took almost six years to get this conviction. Stradford died in December 2020. Lindsey was not found guilty until September 2026. That is a long wait for justice.
Lindsey will serve his life sentence in the Arkansas Division of Corrections.
