According to official records obtained by El Tejano, the following details come from criminal complaint documents filed in Starr County.
Leopoldo Alanis Pena, 41, faces a 2nd Degree Felony. That means 2 to 20 years in prison.
The charge: Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
Alanis Pena is a sex offender for life. He has a prior child sex crime on his record. Texas law says sex offenders must report all online accounts to police.
In June 2026, he came in for a check at the Starr County Sheriff's Office. Deputies asked if he had online accounts. He said no.
But they kept asking.
He worked at Steel Masters. He ran their social media.
He had Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and an email. He never told anyone. All four must be reported by law.
Deputy Jorge L. Guerra filed the case in JP Court Precinct 6.
These laws keep the public safe. When sex offenders hide online, police can't track them.
Alanis Pena now faces a felony charge.
The case is in Starr County. El Tejano will follow it.
